It's an amusing world we live in, where many educated individuals choose to be slaves to technology. Funny, isn't it supposed to work for us because we have too much self-respect that we won't waste 'time' when clearly there is a more efficient way. Though we don't actually respect the time that we have do we? With extra seconds and minutes we get by typing something instead of writing it out, we waste it by shopping for food online whilst others around the world starve, texting 17 of our 2,863 Facebook friends that we've never met face to face all whilst 2 million over the age of 75 live alone. Did we just abandon the Lost Generation?
I don't want you to think that I hate technology, as that is not true. However, there is something there that drives me around the bend when ignorant people shut themselves out from the rest of the world to indulge in their virtual fruit salad when in reality they are shovelling down a 2 minute microwaved lasagne. There is something very wrong about the way people feel the need to go out into the world, just to 'google' if their favourite celebrity has been kicked out of camp. And surely there is something disgusting about the once 11-year-old who spent their personal time shooting pretend zombies, and eating a fully cooked meal their mother made, now being a 50 year old slob at 1pm living in the same bedroom in the same house, shooting the same pretend zombies eating the 7th McDonalds big mac of that day. Isn't that just as bad as alcoholics who start their drinking shift in the morning?
I'm sick of all of you behaving this way. I'm sick of all of us for the way we are behaving. Technology was supposed to open our minds to new ideas. It was originally planned to bring us closer to the rest of the world; instead, we've become further away, and from ourselves also.
